In America, the early performances of Maureen FitzSimons (who we know as Maureen O'Hara) would definitely be in the category of child prodigies. It was an innate trait for a girl from Irish heritage, that was surrounded during her early years by talented family members as well as parents. Maureen was welcomed into this cherished sanctuary within Ranelagh, Ireland on August 17th, 1920. She was the daughter of Marguerita Lililburn FitzSimons a talented contralto. His father, Charles FitzSimons, managed the business of Dublin and also owned part of the famous Irish soccer team "The Shamrock Rovers." Maureen FitzSimons was the child of Charles FitzSimons. Peggy, Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons made up this beautiful family. Maureen was a fan of rough and sporting games in her youth and was a pro in athletics. Her passion was coupled with an unnatural talent for performing. She won almost all Feis Award for Theatre and Drama which her nation had to provide. When she was in her 14th year she joined the Abbey Theater to follow her goal of studying operatic and classical vocals.
